Developing Parent Advocacy for Children’s Services in Northern Ireland

Video of webinar held 20 Jun 2023

The Parents, Families and Allies Network promotes parent advocacy where parents with experience of the child protection system support parents involved in the system and also campaign for a more humane approach. Parent advocacy is taking off in England, Scotland and Wales.

View this webinar hosted by PFAN and the University of Ulster and learn what parents and allies are doing in the UK and help us get something going in Northern Ireland.

Being told that social workers think you’ve harmed your child is one of the worst things a parent can face.

We want to help parents and allies to transform the system from one of parent blame to helping families in difficulty.

We want parents voices to be heard when policies are being made, when services are planned, and when families and children need help. Help us to make it happen in Northern Ireland.

    Who is the webinar for?

We’re inviting parents, families and young people who have experienced the child protection system as well as social workers, lawyers, academics and others who want to see a more humane approach.
